Caught in between
Awake and asleep,
My body was stuck
And from my window pulsed a warm
Glowing scarlet light
Heard a baby cry again
Felt a dog breathe on my chest
As I prepare to pinch stubborn fingertips
Swore something pulled my legs up to the other armrest
Dear former tenant, leave
Me to sleep here with my wife
We mean no harm; go back
To the other side
Brittle woman, floating in the air,
Let me breathe again,
Let my knuckles bend
And cast my voice back into my throat
I hate this shit
