Down from the skies fall, for days and nights nine
A bronze anvil, the tenth day strikes the earth
For days and nights nine, throughout the earth
The anvil falls, and hits on Tartarus the tenth day
Bronze walls surrounds it, and three-fold night 'round
Even gods tremble, the darkest depths as they resound
Ends and beginnings, for all eternity
Beneath the known world, the roots of earth and sea above
By earth and sky above and the water
Of river Styx down below
Witness this oath I swear upon
My word is true and true I stand
There goes swift iris, by Zeus command through
The night-fold realm of, the gods of death and sleep
To bring dark water, in chalice golden
For the sworn gods to drink, to end immortals' enmity
And for a year full, lay there breathless
And nine years more outcast and shunned
The tenth year to return among
Immortals should my word fail
