About Voivod
Voivod is a Canadian progressive metal band formed in 1982 in Jonquière, Quebec, who pioneered a unique fusion of thrash metal, progressive rock, and sci-fi conceptualism that influenced countless extreme metal acts. Their groundbreaking albums like "Killing Technology" (1987) and "Dimension Hatröss" (1988) showcased complex song structures and dystopian themes, while later works like "Target Earth" (2013) proved their continued relevance in modern metal. Known for covering Pink Floyd classics like "Astronomy Domine" and King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man," they seamlessly blend prog-rock sophistication with crushing metal intensity. Their distinctive logo and bassist Jason Newsted's brief tenure in the 2000s helped cement their status as one of metal's most innovative and enduring cult bands.
