GOTTA KEEP MOVIN'
(Terry Dan)
Once there was a time in my life
When ev'rything was kind of serene
I was just a little boy, groovin' in the country
Living with my family
Mama done good, she raised ten kids
And that's when I decided to leave
I figured if I just hit the road
There'd be one less mouth to feed
So I got moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I got fifty cents in my pocket and a shirt on my back
But I'm free
Well things were smooth I was doing alright
For the first five years or so
Then I ran into a little bit of trouble
In a bar up in Buffalo
It was a good ole fight and felt right
Til somebody bit me on the chest
Then I picked up a good stiff wooden chair
And nearly beat that man to death
So I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I got fifty cents in my pocket and a shirt on my back
But I'm free
Well, say hey, little girl don't you start
Trying to go mess around with me
'Cause I ain't got the time or the money
Or the patience that I need
I got dirt in my shoes from walking these roads
Ever since I was just thirteen
And you don't want me anyway
The street life has made me mean
So I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I got fifty cents in my pocket and a shirt on my back
Huh, and I'm free
But I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
I gotta keep moving
I can't let the sun set down on me
