About Tenacious D
Tenacious D is an American comedy rock duo formed in 1994 by Jack Black and Kyle Gass, who blend heavy metal theatrics with absurdist humor and surprisingly skilled musicianship. Their self-titled 2001 debut album spawned the cult classic "Tribute," a mock-epic about writing "the greatest song in the world," while their HBO series and film "The Pick of Destiny" expanded their mythology of being the world's greatest band despite obvious mediocrity. Black's over-the-top vocals and Gass's acoustic guitar work create a unique sound that parodies metal tropes while genuinely celebrating rock's bombastic spirit. Albums like "Rize of the Fenix" proved their staying power, as they've become beloved figures in both comedy and rock circles for nearly three decades of gleefully ridiculous rock anthems.
