Styx – Mr. Roboto Lyrics

秘密を知りたい

You're wondering who I am (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
Machine or mannequin? (Secret, secret, I've got a secret)
With parts made in Japan (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
I am thee modern man

I've got a secret, I've been hiding under my skin
My heart is human, my blood is boiling, my brain IBM
So if you see me acting strangely, don't be surprised
I'm just a man who needed someone and somewhere to hide to keep me alive
Just keep me alive, somewhere to hide, to keep me alive

I'm not a robot without emotions, I'm not what you see
I've come to help you with your problems so we can be free
I'm not a hero, I'm not the saviour, forget what you know
I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control
Beyond my control, we all need control
I need control, we all need control

I am thee modern man (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
Who hides behind a mask (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
So no one else can see (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
My true identity

Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For doing the jobs that nobody wants to
And thank you very much, Mr. Roboto
For helping me escape, when I needed to
Thank you, thank you, thank you
I want to thank you
Please, thank you, oh-oh-oh, yeah

The problem's plain to see
Too much technology
Machines to save our lives
Machines dehumanize

The time has come at last (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
To throw away this mask (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
Now everyone can see (secret, secret, I've got a secret)
My true identity

I'm Kilroy, Kilroy, Kilroy, Kilroy

I like the beat to this song...who is Kilroy? I can understand it more now that I read it. Who is Kilroy? domo

In all cases in whic hit appears in the lyrics, it's "modren man," not "modern." Modrenism is basically the disdain for our obsession with technology and selfish gain, that we have the resources to feed the starving across the world but instead overindulge to the point of potentially fatal obesity, that we have the sum total of the world's information at our fingertips and yet we resort to chatspeak, butchered and bastardized "English," and excessive acronyms to communicate and employ this vast database of information to send "selfies" to total strangers and watch home videos of cats chasing laser pointers while people in other countries would sell their soul for a book to read, and the ability to read it.

Except that this was 1983, before selfies, major gluttony, cell phones, and the majority of houses did not have a computer. Having said that, whether you are correct in your interpretation or not, I think the message of the song equally applies to today's world (even more so in fact).
