About Saxon

Saxon is a British heavy metal band formed in Barnsley in 1976 who became pivotal figures in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement alongside Iron Maiden and Def Leppard. Their anthemic tracks like "Wheels of Steel" and "Princess of the Night" combined thunderous riffs with working-class pride, while albums such as "Wheels of Steel" (1980) and "Strong Arm of the Law" (1980) established them as metal legends. Led by Biff Byford's powerful vocals and the twin-guitar attack of Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver, Saxon's blue-collar metal anthems influenced countless bands and helped bridge the gap between 1970s hard rock and 1980s metal. Despite lineup changes over nearly five decades, they've remained consistently active with recent albums like "Battering Ram" proving their enduring relevance in the metal scene.
