About Rancid
Rancid is a Berkeley-based ska punk band formed in 1991 who became pivotal figures in the mid-90s punk revival, blending hardcore punk with ska, reggae, and Oi! influences. Their breakthrough album "...And Out Come the Wolves" (1995) featured anthems like "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" that brought punk back to mainstream radio while maintaining underground credibility. With Tim Armstrong's distinctive raspy vocals and Lars Frederiksen's aggressive guitar work, Rancid helped define the sound of 90s punk and influenced countless ska-punk bands. Their ability to seamlessly weave ska upstrokes with punk aggression across albums like "...Honor Is All We Know" has kept them relevant for over three decades, making them elder statesmen of the genre.
