About Overkill
Overkill is an American thrash metal band formed in 1980 from Old Bridge Township, New Jersey, who became one of the most consistent and enduring forces in East Coast thrash metal. Led by bassist D.D. Verni and vocalist Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth's distinctive snarling delivery, they helped define the aggressive, working-class thrash sound with albums like "Feel the Fire" and "The Years of Decay." Songs like "Elimination" and "Hello from the Gutter" showcased their ability to blend brutal riffs with memorable hooks, while later works like "Ironbound" and "The Grinding Wheel" proved their relevance across four decades. Their relentless touring and prolific output of over 20 studio albums established them as thrash metal lifers who never compromised their sound for trends.
