Cobb Returns to Macon for Second South of Atlanta Fest

Brent Cobb is doubling down on his love affair with Macon, Georgia. The country singer-songwriter will stage his second annual South of Atlanta Festival at the Robins Financial Capitol Theater on May 1-2, because apparently one celebration of the city's musical legacy wasn't enough.

Cobb, who has built a reputation for his thoughtful Americana and storytelling prowess, seems genuinely smitten with Macon's creative atmosphere. The Georgia native cited the city's "rich musical history" and current crop of artists as reasons for bringing the festival back. Fair enough, considering Macon gave the world the Allman Brothers Band and continues to nurture emerging talent.

The lineup includes American Aquarium, Tobacco Road, and Kristina Murray alongside Cobb himself. The festival will spread across multiple stages with songwriter rounds mixed in, because nothing says intimate music experience like forced conversations about creative processes. Pre-sale tickets launch March 5, with general sales following March 6.

Cobb's festival represents another attempt to spotlight mid-sized music cities often overshadowed by Nashville and Atlanta. Whether Macon can sustain another annual music event remains to be seen, but Cobb's commitment to the city suggests he's betting on more than just nostalgia.
