Michael Jackson – Billie Jean Lyrics

Pop

She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene
I said "Don't mind, but what do you mean, I am the one"
Who will dance on the floor in the round?
She said I am the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round?

She told me her name was Billie Jean, as she caused a scene
Then every head turned with eyes that dreamed of being the one
Who will dance on the floor in the round?

People always told me "be careful of what you do
And don't go around breakin' young girls' hearts"
(Hee-hee)
And mother always told me "be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth"

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one
But the kid is not my son

For forty days and forty nights
The law was on her side
But who can stand when she's in demand her schemes and plans
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round
So take my strong advice, just remember to always think twice
(Do think twice, do think twice)

She told my baby we'd danced 'til three, then she looked at me
Then showed a photo my baby cried his eyes were like mine (oh, no)
'Cause we danced on the floor in the round, baby

People always told me
"Be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts"
She came and stood right by me
Just the smell of sweet perfume
This happened much too soon
She called me to her room

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one
But the kid is not my son

She says I am the one
But the kid is not my son

Billie Jean is not my lover
She's just a girl who claims that I am the one
But the kid is not my son
She says I am the one
But the kid is not my son

She says I am the one
You know what you did (she says he is my son)
Breaking my heart babe
She says I am the one

Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover
Billie Jean is not my lover

Billie Jean is not my lover

About This Song

"Billie Jean" is a paranoid thriller disguised as a dance track, exploring themes of false accusations, celebrity vulnerability, and sexual manipulation. The song tells the story of a man being pursued by a woman who claims he fathered her child, despite his insistence that "the kid is not my son" – a narrative that reflects Jackson's own anxieties about fame making him a target for exploitation and paternity claims. Beneath the infectious bassline and pristine production lies a deeply uncomfortable psychological portrait of someone trapped between desire and fear, attraction and repulsion. The lyrics reveal a protagonist who was initially seduced ("She was more like a beauty queen from a movie scene") but now finds himself ensnared in a nightmare of legal and social consequences. Quincy Jones' production creates an almost claustrophobic atmosphere with its tight, syncopated rhythm, crisp snare hits, and that hypnotic bassline that mirrors the obsessive, circular nature of the protagonist's thoughts. The song's genius lies in how it makes listeners dance to what is essentially a story about sexual anxiety and the dark side of fame. Jackson's vocal delivery shifts between smooth seduction and desperate denial, capturing the emotional whiplash of the situation. "Billie Jean" became a cultural phenomenon because it tapped into universal fears about being falsely accused while delivering an irresistibly funky groove, proving that the most compelling pop music often emerges from personal darkness transformed into universal art.

what does "dance on the floor in the round" mean??

I think Billie Jean is a very inappropriate song. It's about Michael having an affair with a woman and he then claims that when she's pregnant and has a kid, that the kid is not his son! So much for the guy that loves kids! He doesn't even want his own kid! This song is crass, so much so, I'm even going to delete it off my ipod! Unfortuently, the beat is so catchy, and I fear I'll never get the tune out of my head! Billie Jean is not a healthy song.

the person who said the song is anappropriate.... its just a song. Michael Jackson wrote song. not every song reflects the writers own life. also, he was 23/24 at the time. he may not have wanted kids at that time. this is a classic track.

To the person that says Billie Jean is inappropriate, GET A LIFE! Its just a damn song, and just happens to be one of the most famous and recognized songs around the world. Also the song tells of an experience Michael had with a crazed fan, who ultimately ended up in a psych ward.

This song is not inappropriate at all its just a song. Your just saying it's inappropriate cause you do not like it, but if you do not like it you don't have to make up stories about a song being inappropriate.

As much as we all love Micheal Jackson, none of us will really know the truth about anything in his life. We all believe what we want to believe. I believe the man was a legend! A great loss to not only the world of musis but the world itself! An extraordinary man! I'm gutted he's gone but pleased he is finally at peace! Farewell MJ x x x x

As much as we all think we know and love this man I dont think any of us will ever really know the truth about any part of his life. People believe what they want to believe! I believe that this man was a legend and not only is he a loss to the music world but a loss to the world itself. He was an extraordinary and talented man! Farewell MJ

wanna hear something messed up? my name is Billie Jean and since this song has come out the first question people ask me is if I know Michael Jackson. I was 9yrs old when this song came out and to this day I am teased. People sing this freaking song to me like I'm the one he was talking about. Like my kids belong to him. ugh!!! I never dated "brothers" anyway. I hate this song. But I like it too. I just wish it wasn't such a negative song!!!

PLEASE READ: I have MJJ's autobiography. It simply states that the experience that he talks about in his song has happened to some of his brothers. Not Michael, but maybe Jackie, Randy, Tito, Jermaine, or Marlon. Also, this song is not innapropriate - he is expressing his feelings and that's what songs are for. DUH!!! Whoever thinks he's ugly or gross or a criminal is stupid. Get a life! You have no right to criticise this poor man who has been accused of so many things.luv u michael :') ill miss u in heaven!btw my username is cvandy

Great song! It is probably true about many artists facing accusations. I would be happy if some of the posters on here knew how to talk and how to write. I wonder sometimes what is happening to people who do not know how to speak & write properly! Do you plan on being a dumbass all your life?Cindy from Oklahoma

Regardless of who the song is about (if anyone) it is a song. Inappropriate? No! Artists write many songs that pertain to their life, but that does in no way mean every song they write. For instance the Beatle's song 'A Day in the Life' was written about an article in the newspaper. A person could over hear someone talking and go home and write a song. You have no way of knowing no matter where you heard the RUMORS from. There are so many songs with truly bad content but they are out there. Remember people we are supposed to live in a free country with freedom of speach!
