About Klein Orkest
Klein Orkest was a Dutch rock band active from 1978-1985 who became cult favorites in the Netherlands with their quirky, theatrical approach to new wave and post-punk. Led by Harrie Jekkers, they crafted surreal, often humorous songs like "Ballade Van De Dood" and "Leve Het Nijlpaard" that blended dark themes with playful melodies and unconventional instrumentation. Their albums "De Leugenaar" and various singles showcased a distinctly Dutch sensibility that influenced the country's alternative music scene. Though short-lived, Klein Orkest's eccentric artistry and poetic Dutch lyrics helped establish a template for intelligent, experimental rock in the Netherlands during the early 1980s.
