Kenny Barron – Clouds Lyrics

Jazz

Lying still in the tall grass
Seeing blue sky, so much blue sky
While the sun waits for the small wandering cloud
As it slowly passes on its wandering way
And the small cloud and my small hopes
Seem to drift along in the passing day
Like two friends who are lost in a world
That hardly knows they're even there
As they're passing by

It has been so few times as the years pass
That I slow down to this small day
While the Earth moves and my thoughts drift around
Like the small clouds blown around the vast blue sky
Like a small cloud in this blue sky
I am blown around by an unseen wind
And the small gathering storm waits
To have its turn to turn the clouds
To falling rain

And I wonder how or if I will remember this day
And if I'll know to go on along just wandering on this way
Drifting in the blue sky
By a warm sun with a soft wind
Through the tall grass
The small cloud as my far-off friend
We are lost floating in the sky
While the Earth turns and the sun waits
For the turning of the passing days
And my time to be lost is gone
Like clouds drifting by
Just wandering in the sky

And I wonder how or if I will remember this day
And if I'll know to go on along just wandering on this way
Drifting in the blue sky
By a warm sun with a soft wind
Through the tall grass
The small cloud as my far-off friend
We are lost floating in the sky
While the Earth turns and the sun waits
For the turning of the passing days
And my time to be lost is gone
Like clouds drifting by
Just wandering in the sky
Like clouds just drifting by

Clouds drifting by
