Skating fiery micro-blades
Slice red trails in my eyes
As a vision from a distant age
Embellishes the skies
A weary sun looks down
Upon this scarred and battered land
And the hourglass of ages
Soon is leached of all its sand
My tongue dissolves in acid
From my stomach or the air
As early beasts drown swiftly
In their primitive despair
And a morbid thought occurs
As I relive this mass extinction
Not a vision but a prophecy
Of man's final eviction
Dreams flowing back
Feel the icy cold of a Permian Dusk
I stand upon the precipice
A chill invades my spine
For the billion deaths I witness
Flock together and the pain they feel is mine
A distant angry venom
Etches gateposts in my veins
And the count is so much greater
For what's gone than what remains
Aeons worth of putrid death
Come back to haunt once more
As we wait for the cataclysm
To bring dusk back to the fore
Dreams flowing back
Feel the icy cold of a Permian Dusk
I stand upon the precipice
A chill invades my spine
For the billion deaths I witness
Flock together and the pain they feel is mine
Shockwaves from the Permian Dusk
Grip vice-like 'round my heart
As seismic pulse engulfs me
As the final death throes start
Countless lifetimes laid to waste
And souls depart the Earth
The future torn and ruined
Devastation's deadly birth
