About Ides of March
Ides of March is an American rock band formed in 1964 in Berwyn, Illinois, best known for their explosive 1970 hit "Vehicle," which showcased their distinctive blend of rock, soul, and horn-driven arrangements. The song's driving brass section, powerful vocals by Jim Peterik, and infectious energy made it a top 2 Billboard hit and a classic rock radio staple that defined the horn rock sound of the early 1970s. While they never quite recaptured the massive success of "Vehicle," the band's fusion of rock with Chicago-style horn arrangements influenced the development of arena rock and helped establish the template for horn-heavy rock bands. Peterik later co-founded Survivor and co-wrote "Eye of the Tiger," but Ides of March remains his most enduring musical legacy.
