The dawn is breaking
A light shining through
You're barely waking
And I'm tangled up in you
Yeah

(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)

But I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometime
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find
You and I collide

(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)

I'm quiet, you're not
You make a first impression
But I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometime
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find
You and I collide

Don't stop here
I lost my place
I'm close behind

(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills your mind
You finally find
You and I collide

(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
Finally find
You and I collide
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
You finally find
You and I collide
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)
(Doo-doo-doo-doo)

About This Song

"Collide" is an intimate acoustic-driven ballad that explores the vulnerable moments of falling in love and the fear of emotional exposure. The song captures the delicate dance between two people drawn together despite their differences-one open, one guarded-with Day's tender vocals conveying both hope and anxiety about whether the connection will last. Built around gentle guitar fingerpicking and atmospheric production, the track creates a dreamy, contemplative mood that mirrors the uncertainty of new romance. The central metaphor of "colliding" suggests both the beautiful accident of meeting someone special and the potential for emotional impact, while the repeated line "even the best fall down sometimes" acknowledges that vulnerability is part of love's risk. The song became a defining moment in early 2000s adult alternative rock, resonating with listeners for its honest portrayal of romantic hesitation and the courage required to open one's heart.

Its about two people are so different that sometimes they have trouble believing it can ever work out. Loving someone so much is scary, especially when sometimes it doesn't seem perfect. However, despite their problems they are drawn to each other because in the end the pull of love wins out.

It sounds like a love sick Psycho who can't let go of his girlfriend. The reason why they're "Colliding" is because she doesnt want him anymore...duh!
