About Eraserheads
Eraserheads is a Filipino alternative rock band formed in 1989 who became the most influential group in Philippine music history, pioneering the OPM (Original Pilipino Music) alternative scene with their witty, relatable lyrics and jangly guitar-driven sound. Their breakthrough album "Ultraelectromagneticpop!" and anthems like "Ang Huling El Bimbo" and "Pare Ko" captured the angst and humor of Filipino youth in the 1990s, while later works like "Cutterpillow" showed their musical maturation. The band's clever wordplay, pop culture references, and ability to blend Western alternative rock with distinctly Filipino sensibilities made them cultural icons who defined a generation. Though they disbanded in 2003, their legacy as the "Beatles of the Philippines" endures, having paved the way for countless Filipino rock bands and proving that local music could achieve massive commercial and critical success.
